The shelves are being stocked ahead of Habitat for Humanity’s official opening of its ReStore in Sherwood Park.
Located at 7 Streambank Avenue, the 20,000-square-foot shop is set to open on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 10 a.m.
It will become the fourth ReStore in the Edmonton area, which will help divert millions of tonnes of waste from landfills and repurpose materials for resale. Donations such as appliances, furniture, home construction materials, and tools are sold to the public at bargain prices.
Amber Lachambre, ReStore director with Habitat for Humanity Edmonton said Sherwood Park was a logical location for Habitat to expand into.
“We have an amazing relationship with the county. Since 2009, we’ve served 18 families in Strathcona County and the community has always been really quick to support our organization’s work that we do. From the other stores we operate in the north, east and west Edmonton, we do know that we have a lot of people coming in from the Strathcona County area, and from a commercial standpoint, we know it’s a booming part of the region. We also know people are drawn into the county from surrounding areas such as Fort Saskatchewan and along the Yellowhead corridor from more rural communities. We think that it’s a great location. Right on the corner of Broadmoor and Streambank, it’s going to be such a high visibility location and it’s very easy to get to. We’re very excited,” she said.
