Local enforcement officers are patroling during the province’s second shutdown restrictions and while they didn’t issue any tickets throughout the month of December, that changed this past weekend.
Vito Disciglio, acting inspector/supervisor with Strathcona County Enforcement Services, said the department is focused on education rather than fines.
“Strathcona County is actively educating the community about COVID-19 restrictions in place, with ticketing as a last resort,” Disciglio said. “Strathcona County enforcement officers continue to be a presence in county buildings, facilities, and recreational areas, as part of overall education efforts.”
Disciglio said there have only been a few isolated concerns enforcement has had to deal with.
“Overall, the public continues to demonstrate its collective commitment to the health and well-being of our community,” he said.
